With the COVID-19 pandemic, we are reminded of our need to stay focused and not lose heart because of the fearful predictions being made. It isn\u2019t a matter of denying reality but, rather, choosing which reality to put your trust in. Paul wrote to Timothy, \u201cFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.\u201d (2 Timothy 1:7)<\/p>\n
For sure, there is a certain healthy “fear” that serves us well in avoiding potentially harmful situations, but the fear of uncertainty\u2014of troubles that may lie ahead\u2014or living in anxiety and worry is not from God. Trials are instead opportunities to grow our faith and trust in the One who holds our future in His loving, powerful hands and guides us through these difficult times as we seek Him in prayer.<\/p>\n
The key to peace in difficult times is focusing on who God is and His power to keep His word and promises. \u201cAnd we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.\u201d (Rom. 8:28)<\/p>\n
Remembering His unconditional love, His grace and mercy and His \u201ccompassions that fail not\u201d (Lamentations 3:22) while worshiping Him for who He is, leaves little room for fear, doubt and panic to take root in our minds and hearts.<\/p>\n
